A true clos (walled vineyard) and eight hectare monopole of Dutraive family. Vine age ranges from 30-70 years old.
Soil
Very little topsoil before hitting granite.
Viticulture
No herbacides or pesticides, organically farmed, soils are worked, all fruit is hand-harvested.
Vinification
Traditional vinification without sulfur and with natural yeast at very low temperatures. Carbonic maceration and little or no filtering. Jean-Louis' motto in the cellar is "minimal intervention and maximum surveillance."
Aging
35% in stainless steel, 30% in fûts de chêne, 30% foudres for 9-12 months.
Production
2500 cases produced
Notes
Fruitier than its old vine counterpart, this flagship Fleurie defines Dutriave terroir and style. Aromas of dark cherry, violets and exotic spices on the nose. Rustic and complex on the palate, Dutraive compares the Grand'Cour to a baby Beaune Rouge in its muscle and bredth.
